A Day in the Life: Downtown Dallas, DTX
Begin any day of the week by heading to one of the top-rated coffee shops in Downtown. We love Otto’s Coffee & Fine Foods, or if you’re really going for it, head to The Weekend at the Joule. grab your cappuccino to-go as you walk to work at one of the nearby office buildings , or you can turn a morning brew into an all day affair by plugging in at The Adolphus Hotel Spa.
As you head down Commerce Street, you’ll check out the AT&T Discovery District, a six acre park with amenities, restaurants, art installations, and a good amount of green space to spread out. One reason we love Downtown is how easy it is to change the scenery to match your mood. If you want a healthy mixture of art, industry, and entertainment, Downtown might be the place for you.
If you don’t work in an office, but want to get out of the house , Downtown has great coworking spaces. Common Desk offers specialty coffee with a modern, professional twist. Industrious Arts District is another great spot .
Kick-off the weekend with brunch at one of the many hot spots Downtown. Check out Yolk for delicious Instagram-worthy breakfast plates . Ellen’s, Rise + Thyme, and CBD Provisions also top our list .
It’s easy to keep the good times rolling in Downtown. Head over to the 19th floor rooftop at Waterproof or the indoor/outdoor bar at Sky Blossom for their signature cocktail menu. For a more laid-back mood, try Press Box Grill, Commissary, or Overeasy.
Downtown dinner choices are extensive. We’ll spare you the monologues and get right to it.
● Mexican: RJ Mexican Cuisine (bachata + patio = yes please), Salsa Limón (more chill, just as good)
● Italian: Monarch (maybe too soon to crown, but you won’t experience anything like it anywhere), Ravenna (authentic style, great bar, chef’s kiss)
● Asian: Musume, Sapa House, Kessaku (a sushi speakeasy with incredible views )
● American: Frankie’s Downtown, The Woolworth, Record Grill
Art, entertainment and education are at the heart of Downtown Dallas. The Perot Museum and the Dallas World Aquarium are fun for all ages. For a refined experience, grab tickets to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerson Symphony Center (advice: you haven’t seen Star Wars until you’ve seen it with a live orchestra!), Visit one of America’s largest Art Museums, The Dallas Museum of Art and make sure to stop by the Nasher Sculpture Center too.
After dinner the bar and nightclub at Catbird or Bourbon & Banter at The Statler are great choices. Midnight Rambler offers a prohibition-chic basement experience that you’ve got to check out at least once.
